On the occasion of 78th Independence Day, PM Modi addressed the countrymen from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Before the address, he hoisted the tricolor at the Red Fort. Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time.
After Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, PM Modi has become the third Prime Minister who has given the 11th consecutive speech on Independence Day. Nehru has received this honor 17 times, while Indira Gandhi has received it 16 times.
PM Modi’s longest speech:
On the occasion of 78th Independence Day, PM Modi gave a speech of about 97 minutes. This is the longest speech by any Prime Minister after independence. In the year 1947, the then Prime Minister gave a speech of 72 minutes.
Modi broke his own record:
Narendra Modi has broken his own record by giving a 97-minute speech on Independence Day. He had made a record by giving a 94-minute speech in 2016, which he broke this year.

In this matter, Modi has reached the third position after former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Nehru had received this honour 17 times and Indira 16 times.
